Australian based Pipeline Industry Professional Education Provider PIPEd recently completed pipeline training services for global technology services company Chevron in the USA.
PIPEd won a tender to provide on-site Hydrostatic Testing Training to a select group of Chevron employees in Houston, Texas.
Pipeline engineering specialist and PIPEd trainer Chris Hughes was in the US to deliver the training services. The training course provided valuable insights into Hydrostatic Testing and variations between Australian and US standards. “The major difference between Hydrotesting in Australia and the USA is that the US standards require the test to show that the pipe doesn’t have any leaks, without saying how this can be done.” Explained Mr Hughes; “Australian Standard 2885.5, on the other hand, recognises that this is virtually impossible within the sensitivity of available test methods and explains in great detail how the test should be conducted and the limits outside which Hydrotesting cannot (or should not) go.”
The course was well received and PIPEd again demonstrated its capability to provide flexible pipeline training services to a global audience.
