PIPEd Proactive in Pipeline Education and Training
Date: 4/01/2010
Brief Description:
PIPEd contines growth in specialised pipeline industry training services.
Description:
PIPEd is an OSD Pipelines initiative which kicked off in 2006 with a mission to provide quality education to pipeliners by recognised pipeline experts in the area of onshore pipeline design and operation. PIPEd’s mission is to be a recognised world-leader in the provision of training solutions focused on all aspects of pipeline education. In 2009 PIPEd delivered a total of 29 public and in-house training courses throughout Australia. Participants were educated on numerous aspects of pipeline engineering and operations, with training conducted in most capital cities including Brisbane, Canberra, Melbourne, Perth and Adelaide. PIPEd also developed a more proactive profile in the pipeline industry through revised and updated courses and a new pipeline education curriculum. |

Three new pipeline courses were recently added to the PIPEd schedule:
Working Safely Near Pipelines and Other Pipeline Infrastructure;
Introduction to Pipeline Maintenance Pigging; and
Pipeline Risk Management
The addition of the new courses in 2009 has led to an increase in the required number of internal and external presenters and course developers.
Glenn Cameron works on behalf of PIPEd as a course developer and trainer in Canada and brings to the table over 25 years experience in the oil and gas industry.
Peter Tuft works on behalf of PIPEd as a developer and trainer for Australian PIPEd courses, and he has over 30 years of experience with engineering and pipeline systems.
New initiatives for PIPEd have also been implemented this year, including new processes and procedures for training, as well as further coordination, development, and delivery for PIPEd courses.
PIPEd was also involved with the development of key competencies for Pipeline Engineers in the National Reference Group appointed by APIA, and has to date made significant contributions to this pipeline reference group.
As part of OSD's commitment to charity, all PIPEd profits for 2009 were donated to the Muscular Dystrophy Foundation.
